Spicy Snacks

When we think of using a spice rack, we generally think of elaborate meals and more complex cooking. However, a wide variety of herbs and spices can be used to brighten up lots of healthy snacks. Here are some easy ideas for snacks using basic ingredients, some creativity and your AllSpice Rack!

Roasted Chickpeas

Drain and rinse a 15 ounce can of chickpeas. Transfer to a bowl and add spices of your choice. Add 2 tablespoons of vegetable or coconut oil. Fry in a pan or bake on a baking sheet until golden brown.

Suggested Spices: Paprika, Turmeric, Cumin, Cayenne, Salt, Garlic Salt

Kale Chips

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Rinse and dry kale. Remove thick stems and tear into bite-sized pieces. Toss with olive oil, salt and spices. Bake until crispy.

Suggested Spices: Ranch Dressing Mix, Garlic Salt, Nutritional Yeast, Cayenne

Popcorn

Make popcorn as usual. Sprinkle with spices.

Suggested Spices: Turmeric, Paprika, Garlic Salt, Cheddar Cheese Sprinkle

Spiced Nuts

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Add desired spices to nuts. Dissolve 1/2c sugar in 1/4c water and 1T butter. Toss with nuts. Spread nuts on baking sheet and bake until golden.

Suggested Spices: Salt, Black Pepper, Cinnamon, Cumin, Cayanne
